Chemical Base

Portland cement, selected aggregates, water retention additives, redispersal polymer

Shelf Life

12 months from the date of production when stored in the original, sealed package

Storage Conditions

Store in undamaged, original, sealed package, in dry conditions at 73°F (23°C)

Mixing Ratio

1.76 pints (0.83 L) of cool potable water per 10 lb. bag

Pot Life

45 - 60 minutes

Substrate Preparation

For best results, the temperature of the substrate or tile must be between 50°F and 95°F (10°C and 35°C) during grouting. Maintain this temperature range for 72 hours after application. Ensure tiles or stones are firmly set, and adhesive or mortar is completely dry. Remove all spacers and clean grout joints of standing water, dust, dirt, and foreign matter. Clean the tile or stone surface to remove contaminants that may cause grout discoloration.

Mixing Instructions

To minimize color variation, dry blend the powders from multiple containers before adding water. Add approximately 1.76 pints (0.83 L) of cool potable water for every 10 lbs. (4.53 kg) of SikaTile®-815 Secure Grout in a clean mixing container. Add the grout to the water slowly and blend by hand or power mixer at low speed (less than 200 RPM). The ideal grout has a stiff but creamy consistency. Periodically mix during use to keep the grout workable, but do not add additional water or additives. Discard and make a new batch if the grout becomes dry and difficult to work.

Application Instructions

Read all installation instructions before installation and reference ANSI A108.10-1999. Slightly moisten the tile surface with a damp grout sponge before application. Using a rubber grout float held at a 45° angle, force grout diagonally into joints, ensuring they are completely filled. Remove excess grout using the edge of the float held at a 90° angle. Cleanup can begin as soon as the grout becomes firm enough to slightly indent when pushed. Use minimal water for cleanup to avoid color variation, shrinkage, cracks, or pinholes. Smooth and level joints, and remove excess grout from tiles with a moist small-pore grout sponge. Change cleaning water and rinse the sponge frequently. Remove haze from the tile surface with a soft, dry, microfiber cloth.

Final Clean-Up

After 24 hours, the grout installation can be cleaned with clean water. Acid cleaning is not recommended.

Movement Joints

All expansion, control, construction, cold, saw-cut, isolation, contraction, and seismic joints in the structure should continue through the tilework, as specified per TCNA Method EJ171 or TTMAC Specification Guide 09 30 00, Detail 301MJ.

Curing Treatment

Do not disturb grout or walk over installed tiles for at least 24 hours after setting. Avoid heavy traffic for at least 72 hours. Protect from rain and freezing for at least three days after completion. For residential showers and tub surrounds, restrict use for 24 to 48 hours after grouting. For steam showers, restrict use for 14 days after grouting.

Cleaning Tools

Clean tools and tile with water before the material dries.
